Abstract

The increasing importance of environmental issues and sustainable development contributes to the development of new trends at the company level. Sustainable development is seen as a source of entrepreneurial opportunities, which are used to solve social and environmental problems. The aim of this paper is to analyse the role of entrepreneurship in the context of sustainable development and to synthesise the main research approaches in the field of sustainable entrepreneurship. Ecological and social-oriented activities can help companies properly assess potential efforts and make a successful transition towards sustainable development. Recently, there has been an increasing interest of enterprises in developing in accordance with pro-ecological principles, taking into account economic benefits, as well as social benefits. Moreover, the development of enterprises in this field is important because of their impact on the environment and society, as they contribute to the creation and implementation of new, more sustainable patterns of production and consumption. Moreover, the interests of social and environmental aspects are taken into account. The research concept was based on the method of analysis and critique of the literature, as well as the analysis based on secondary data.
